(2014 September, 20, Beijing) Wangjing SOHO announces its grand opening today with an open celebration inviting thousands of spectators to visit Beijing’s newest architectural landmark, and featuring outdoor musical and dance performances as well as light and fountain shows.
Designed by the world-renowned, Pritzker Prize winning architect Dame Zaha Hadid, Wangjing SOHO is Beijing’s latest iconic building. Comprised of three towers the tallest 200 meters in height, Wangjing SOHO’s curvaceous and striking design make it the most visible landmark en route from Beijing’s Capital Airport to the city center.
From a bird’s eye view, the architecture resembles three graceful fish whose fluid lines gently nestle into the cityscape, whereas from the ground level, the three towers preside as a trio of majestic peaks overlooking the city.
Wangjing SOHO is one of three SOHO China projects developed by Zaha Hadid in addition to Galaxy SOHO in Beijing, and Sky SOHO in Shanghai.
Wangjing SOHO takes pride in being a “green” building. To manage Beijing’s chronic air pollution, Wangjing SOHO uses an advanced air purification system to effectively filter out over 90% of the atmospheric PM2.5, far exceeding the national standard. Wangjing SOHO is also equipped with a pure-drinking water filtration system that meets the water standards for astronauts. To reduce energy consumption, Wangjing SOHO combines BIM (Building Information Modelling) systems to establish a new generation of intelligent building energy management systems. Wangjing SOHO has achieved LEED Gold pre-certification.
Since its completion, Wangjing SOHO has been highly sought after as an office destination by both local and international companies, and particularly cutting-edge Internet companies. Chukong Technologies, Mofang and Momo Technology and other influential IT companies have set up offices in in Wangjing SOHO.
In order to continuously improve tenant experience, Wangjing SOHO has launched a series of new initiatives: cooperation with China Mobile to provide a comprehensive indoor 4G coverage; provision of the largest Tesla recharging locations with nine Tesla car charging piles; and the installment of intelligent parking management systems with cashless, online payments. All of these innovations for the modern office building can be found at Wangjing SOHO.
Pan Shiyi, Chairman of SOHO China, comments, "Today, we live in a new era of innovation, and our world is changing by the minute. In nearly 20 years, SOHO China has focused on just one thing: innovation. From introducing the concept of SOHO (small office, home office) in its cookie-cutter form, to delivering the streamlined futuristic building of today, SOHO China has endeavored to surpass itself with each and every one of our new architectures. All our innovative efforts serve the one simple goal of making our work, and life, better.”
